Healing the Whole Person: Engaging Your Story
It's time to stop just getting by and start being fully alive. Engage your story and find healing and freedom with this upcoming series.
How long will your hearts be hardened?
We’ve asked this before but are asking again as Lent comes to a close: How long will you love what is futile and seek what is false? How long will you barely get by and simply manage life as it happens all around you and to you, but never for you? Well, it’s time for a change. Harden not your hearts, friends.
We’re resting in the beauty of the Healing the Whole Person retreat this past weekend and are entering now into Holy Week with the hopeful anticipation of new life. We admire the courage of those who gave the retreat a shot, were vulnerable, and opened themselves up to the Lord’s work in their hearts. Read about how it impacted one attendee here.
A New Dawn is indeed rising and this doesn’t *just* mean we as Catholics simply attend a few more Masses than usual, dress up a bit, suffer through time with the in-laws, hunt for eggs hidden by an obscure rabbit, or that it’s *just* Jesus who does the rising - the Lord is calling to you now, as He has since the beginning of time, and His will is established for ever: If we died with him, we will also live with him (2 Timothy 2:11).
Let us arise and be on our way as we engage our stories and discover true freedom.
Welcome to Healing the Whole Person: Engaging Your Story
Welcome to Healing the Whole Person: Engaging Your Story, an 8-week series that provides the framework for understanding and receiving Christ’s healing and peace in the heart of the Catholic Church.
The JPII Healing Center team has a framework for understanding healing and forgiveness that they’ve been validating with their Healing the Whole Person retreats, which they’ve made available for us in Milwaukee to engage our stories further.
Using videos featuring Dr. Bob Schuchts and Sr. Miriam James Heidland, each session includes a guided prayer experience, a workbook journaling activity for private reflection and prayer, and opportunities to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
How does our faith penetrate to the deeper places of our lives where we can finally feel fully alive? How do we find the freedom to live without fear, holy and righteous in His sight, all the days of our lives? This is the answer - by seeking the Lord’s healing in order to remove the barriers to receiving His love. It all starts and ends with Him, who is above all else that is, and who holds all things together in Himself. The Lord is always doing a new thing that springs up long before our intellects awaken to the fact, if we could but perceive it! He makes a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland of our lives (Isaiah 43:19).
Milwaukee is indeed an ark experiencing the restoration of the New Covenant: It’s experiencing a renaissance in the priesthood, the possibility of hosting religious orders and integrating consecrated sisters back into daily Catholic life, a renewal evidenced in a vibrant young adult community, and more. This is the true, living Church and mystical body of Christ, and you are a part of it by Baptism. Stop making excuses for yourself and trust this word which is true, for “He who sent me is trustworthy, and what I have heard from him I tell the world” (John 8:26):
The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed (Romans 13:11). Engage Your Story and Be Healed now!
